Meet Lucy

I studied ballet from the age of 3 and I trained as a dancer at the Italia Conti Academy of theatre arts from the age of 14 where ballet was my strength.

Alongside our theatre arts training we trained Pilates twice a week alongside our daily ballet lessons. This was the moment I fell in love with Pilates, the benefits on my constantly aching body were amazing, my posture improved, and my core became stronger each week. Back then Pilates was not so popular or ‘fashionable’ as it is now and everyone was more interested in HIIT.

After being in the performing industry from so young, I decided I wanted to try something new and started working in the city as an executive assistant. Although I loved my job, I was always more excited about the reformer or fitness class I had booked that lunchtime or evening. I then trained as a Mat and reformer Pilates instructor whilst working in the hope to teach alongside my full-time job.

During the pandemic, it allowed me to take a step back and re-evaluate my career path and what I wanted to achieve. Working as an EA is great however, you are always achieving something for someone else. I wanted now to set my own goals and be my own boss. So I decided to open my own private studio in my home town to teach in the mornings, evenings and weekends around my EA job whilst working from home.

The hours were extreme but I loved it and soon had an overwhelming 60 clients on my waiting list. This inspired me to go full time and peruse my passion fully.

Now, Shape is currently nearly two years old and have never looked back. I am so much happier, not only with the business but with my new lifestyle. I love helping people feel healthier, stronger and it’s amazing to see the results my clients achieve.

My plans for Shape are always on the go and I am now so excited to share my new online platform with you all to do in your own time, in your own space.

I am still also teaching limited classes in person at my studio and please check my events page for my upcoming events and workshops.
